One with Nature

Do you have a desire
To be in nature
Do the birds singing
Awaken your heart
To the glorious gifts
Of the outdoors
Where the earth is
Below your feet
And the smells stir your senses
Do you want
To hug a tree
But fear being ridiculed
Becoming one with nature
Is feeling the heartbeat of Earth

Why does this image go with this poem?

“Becoming one with nature” is a concept that is close to how my own creativity manifests itself. I pause and look around, it’s as if I’m trying to “feel” and understand, trying to soak up the detail of the moment. In this case a pre dawn hike up to Cat Rock to view an eclipse morphed into a fascination with this mountain laurel. The longer I sat on the rock watching the sunrise the more I knew the laurel had to be included in the image. I edged as far down the steep ledge as I dared in order to improve the composition and take this photograph
